Sinharaja is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the density of endemic species is staggering. The forest is dense and dripping, alive with the calls of endemic birds, the rustle of lizards in the leaf litter and the crash of hidden waterfalls. The reserve is home to the famous Sinharaja ‘bird wave’, a phenomenon unique to this forest in which a dozen endemic birds move together through the canopy in a swirling and thrilling feeding flock.
